This project involved the design and project management of a new build Essex Vernacular house within the grounds of a Grade II listed manor house. The client required a house with eco-technologies and low maintenance due to its estuary location.
The house was designed with four bedrooms with en-suite facilities. The main entrance includes a large glazed screen with the front door set within. This opens up to a main hall with vaulted ceilings and a central timber, glass and stainless steel staircase. The rear rooms are split level to take into account the levels of the land. The main living space has a large open plan kitchen with space for dining, relaxing and entertaining.
The house was constructed off site from SIPS (structural insulated panel system) and erected on site and made watertight in two weeks.
