The developers required a full architects’ service for this project from conception through to completion - co-ordinating all consultants and being a team leader for 42 flats within two blocks.
The main challenge was the access into the site to meet both London Borough of Havering Highways and (TFL) Transport for London requirements.
The design principles are taken from the history of the site having industrial use. The design takes the lead from other former and recently approved schemes along the Southend arterial road and responds in height to the significant width of the site. The forms of the blocks are contemporary brick detailing with industrial metal balconies and rendered forms. Black zinc upper penthouses to provide a definitive contrast against the day sky and blend in at night.
Spatial Design Architects have worked closely with all consultants and the project is due to go on site latter quarter of 2017 with demolition having been undertaken.
The scheme is being put forward for a GOLD award from ‘Secured by Design’ from the Met Police.
