Contemporary Extensions

This project involved the design and project management of an extensive refurbishment and large perimeter extensions to a 1950's built house. The client’s brief was to provide a stunning entrance and a master suite above the former detached garage and to link the spaces to provide a greater first floor living space. They also required a large open plan kitchen, dining and living space to the rear of the property.

The design of the rear extension took on the form of a contemporary space with large roof windows, sliding bi-folding doors and vaulted ceilings. The external appearance to the front of the house was uplifted with a new western red cedar clad two-storey glazed gable. The link was designed to create a maximum illusion of space with a bridged landing, cantilevered staircase with oak open treads and frameless glass balustrade with stainless steel fittings.
